MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Loss of fluid pressure when engine is not running (Cont).
Step 5.
Check for damaged middle seal ring in starter
control valve. Make sure there is no visible
external leakage.
Disconnect the return hose from
the starter. Use the hand pump
to raise the pressure if necessary.
If fluid leaks from the return
fitting when the control valve
is closed, the middle seal ring
is damaged. Remove the control
valve and replace the seal ring.
Refer to paragraph 3-101.
Step 6.
Check for external leakage in system.
Examine all hoses and fittings
for leaks. Tighten. Refer to
Direct Support Maintenance.
Step 7.
Check for starter control valve out of time.
Check
for bent shifting fork.
Refer to Direct Support Maintenance.
Step 8.
Check for loss of accumulator precharge (nitrogen).
