When prolonged idling is needed, maintain at least 800 RPM minimum.
l.
Advance the throttle until the tachometer (16) indicates 1800 RPM.
m. Assume control of the generator at the switchboard located in the engine access room.
NOTE
The voltage can be adjusted by rotating the manual control rheostat on the switchboard located in the
engine access room.

GENERATOR ENGINE-COLD WEATHER START.
Before starting engines, generator circuit breakers on control panel must be open.
a. Perform all before operations on the Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services chart.
NOTE
Position all shutoff valves counterclockwise.
b. Operate hand pump (1) on hydrostarter in forward engine room to charge accumulators (1 and 3).

Pressure gages (4 and 5) should read:
