3-99. INSTRUMENT PANEL - MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS.
a. The instrument panel consists of an engine oil pressure gage, an ammeter gage and water temperature
gage. The engine starting and stopping controls are mounted in various locations.
b. The oil pressure gage registers the pressure of the lubricating oil in the engine. As soon as the engine
is started, the oil pressure gage should start to register. If not, the engine should be stopped and the cause of
the low oil pressure determined and corrected before the engine is started again.

Water Temperature Gage. The engine coolant temperature is registered on the water temperature
gage.
d. Engine Starting Motor Switch. The engine starting motor switch is used to energize the starting motor.
As soon as the engine starts, the switch is released. The starting switch is mounted on the instrument panel
with the contact button extending through the front face of the panel.
e. Engine Ammeter. The engine ammeter indicates the amount of electrical energy created to power the
alarm system.
