3-101. HYDROSTARTER - MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS.
a. The hydrostarter (starting) motor is mounted on the flywheel housing. The hydrostarter has a high
rate of acceleration; therefore, the engine is cranked faster than other starting systems.
b. An overrunning clutch protects the starting motor at all times from being driven at high speeds by the
engine before disengagement of the pinion.
