3-167.2. FLYWHEEL HOUSING - MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS.
a.
The flywheel housing is a one-piece casting, mounted against the rear cylinder block end plate,
which provides a cover for the gear train and the flywheel. It also serves as a support for the starting motor and
the torque converter.
b.
The crankshaft rear oil seal, which is pressed into the housing may be removed or installed
without removing the housing (see paragraph 166).
