from piston ring
grooves to prevent
rings from sticking
and becoming par
tially inactive with
a resultant loss of
compression. This
operation may be
easily performed
with a small, narrow
scraper, being careful
not to scratch or
otherwise damage
the groove walls.
Check each ring in
respective piston
ring groove for possible
tightness. Roll the ring
around the groove as
shown in figure. There
should be no indication
of sticking or
