RUNNING.
a. Oil Pressure.
Observe the oil pressure gage immediately after starting the engine. If there is no oil pressure indicated within
10 to 15 seconds, stop the engine and check the lubricating system. The pressure should not fall below 30 psi at 1200
rpm and normal operating pressure should be higher.
b. Warm-Up.
Run the engine at part throttle and no-load for approximately five minutes, allowing it to warm up before applying
a load.
If the unit is operating in a closed room, start the room ventilating fan or open the windows, as weather conditions
permit, so ample air is available for the engine.
c.
Inspection.
While the engine is running at operating temperature, check for water, fuel or lubricating oil leaks. Tighten the
line connections where necessary to stop leaks.
d. Temperature.
Normal engine coolant temperature is 160to 185 .
F
e. Crankcase.
If the engine crankcase was refilled, stop the engine after normal operating temperature has been reached; allow
the oil to drain back into the crankcase and check the oil quantity. Add oil, if necessary, to bring it to the proper level on
the dipstick.
f.
Clutch.
Do not engage the clutch at engine speeds over 850 rpm.
