b. Examine the oil seal
(32) and if the lip of
the oil seal is rough
or hard, replace the
oil seal.
c. Inspect the coupling
and flange assembly (4)
to see that the rubber
is firmly bonded to the
metal at each end of
the coupling and flange
assembly. If the
coupling and flange
assembly has been
exposed to fuel oil,
lubricating oil or
excessive heat,
the rubber may have
become loosened. In
this event, the coupling
and flange assembly
should be replaced.
