NOTE
L.O. Purifier Heater is used if engine oil temperature is below 180 .
F
(d) On Lube Oil Heater TYPE-I Motor Switch (FIGURE 2-258) release LOCK (3), press START
pushbutton (1).
(2) Align lube oil system for purification.
(a) If L.O. Purifier Heater is to be used, open LO-9, PRE-HEATER SUPPLY (27, FIGURE 2-
259) and LO-8, PRE-HEATER OUTLET (26).
(b) If L.O. Purifier Heater is NOT to be used, open LO-7, PRE-HEATER BY-PASS (29).
(c) If STBD Main Engine lube oil is to be purified:
1 Open LO-19, SUMP SUCT-STBD ENG (17).
2 Open LO-15, PRE-LUBE/PURIFIER SUCT (23).
3 Open LO-25, SUMP SUPPLY/PURIFIER RTN STBD ENG (15).
4 Ensure LO-17, RDCN GEAR SUCT-STBD (22).
(d) If Port Main Engine lube oil is to be purifier:
1 Open LO-18, SUMP SUCT-PORT ENG (12).
2 Open LO-14, PRE-LUBE/PURIFIER SUCT (14).
3 Open LO-24, SUMP SUPPLY/PURIFIER RTN PORT ENG (6).
4 Ensure LO-16, RDCN GEAR SUCT-PORT (4) is closed.
(e) Open LO-6, LO PURIFIER DISCH (31).
c. Start L.O. Purifie.

(1) On L.O. Purifier TYPE-I Motor Switch (FIGURE 2-258) release LOCK (3), press START pushbutton
(1).
(2) Wait 5 minutes for bowl inside purifier to gain speed.
(3) Slowly open LO-11, PURIFIER SUCTION (32, FIGURE 2-259) until oil is visible in sight glass on top
of purifier.
(4) Check the output by opening the top inspection cover. Close top inspection cover.
(5) Slowly open LO-11, PURIFIER SUCTION (32) until glass bowl is approximately 1/2 full.
(6) Allow L.O. Purifier to purify oil for 4 hours per engine.
