REMOVAL
a. Remove connecting rod and piston.
WARNING
To prevent injury, wear eye protection when using a wire
brush. Ensure the wire brush is rated for the rpm being
used if the brush is motor driven. Remove any broken
wire bristles from the engine.
CAUTION
Do not use aluminum oxide cloth to remove the carbon
ring. Remove any broken wire bristles from the engine.
Small particles of abrasives or debris can cause
damage to the engine.
(1) Using wire brush, remove the carbon ring from the top of the cylinder lining as necessary to allow
the removal of the pistons.
