INSPECTION
Operate the system, observe the function for normal operation, AHEAD and
a.
ASTERN.  Recommended system supply pressure, 120 psi.
During operation check for air leaks at tube fittings, valves and actuator
b.
seals by using liquid leak detector.  Ensure all tubing is secured and
insulated from excessive vibration; check all flexible hoses for checking,
aging, or chafing.
With the system actuated AHEAD, inspect the following, then check again while
c.
actuated ASTERN.
(1) The 3-position gear actuator cylinder should move freely without binding
o r twisting.  The same is true for the governor actuator. Check all
linkages and adjustments for correct alignment.
(2) Check all pivot points for freedom of movement, excessive wear and
corrosion.
(3) Check valve indicator pins or stem positions to be sure all are in proper
sequence.  (Refer to Table 2-3).
(4) Recheck all operating pressures for normal settings. (Refer to TM 55-
1905-223-10, Operator's Manual.)
