j. Remove three machine screws (7) and lockwashers (8) from bearing cover (9) on motor side and
remove bearing cover, sealing ring (10) and gasket (11) from worm wheel assembly (24).
k. Remove three machine screws (22) from bearing cover (20) on pump side and remove bearing cover,
gasket and sealing ring (18) from housing.
l. Remove retaining ring (7).
m. Place a wooden block (or wooden hammer handle) on end of worm wheel shaft (13) and tap lightly
with a soft head mallet to drive out shaft towards motor side. Carefully, remove shaft by sliding shaft
out of grooved ball bearing (16) while holding worm wheel assembly in position inside housing.
n. Remove worm wheel assembly (24) from housing.
o. Use bearing puller to remove grooved ball bearing off of worm wheel shaft.
p. Use bearing puller to remove grooved ball bearing (16) off of housing on pump side.
REPLACEMENT
a. Use arbor press to install grooved ball bearing (16, Figure 3-13) on pump side of housing.
b. Use arbor press to install grooved ball bearing (12) on worm wheel shaft (13).
c. Position worm wheel assembly (24) in housing.
d. Insert worm wheel shaft (13) into housing from motor side and worm wheel assembly (24), grooved
ball bearing (16) and through opening on pump side of housing.
e. Install retaining ring (17).
f. Install sealing ring (18) gasket (19) and bearing cover (20) to housing on pump side and secure with
three machine screws (22).
g. Install machine gasket (11), sealing ring (10), and bearing cover (9) to worm wheel assembly (24) on
motor side and secure with three lockwashers (8) and machine screws (7).
h. Position clutch drum (6) on worm wheel shaft and secure with flatwasher (5) and socket head screw
(4).
i. Loosen threaded pin (1) and install clutch driver (2) and clutch shoes (3) into clutch drum (6) and on
worm wheel shaft.
j. Slide worm wheel (15) left to engage with worm spindle (not shown).
