Magnetic Pickup
Remove the magnetic pickup from the flywheel hous
ing and clean with a soft cloth and low pressure
air. Pickup is located on the upper left of the
flywheel housing.

Engine (Exterior)
CAUTION
Be sure that all access covers,
filters, oil dipstick and filler
caps are in place before cleaning
engine.
NOTE
Protect surrounding areas with
tarpaulins, plastic sheeting, or
similar material before cleaning
the engine.
Clean the engine exterior. Be sure to clean areas
hidden by external components.
The engine may be wiped down with solvent (Item 6,
Appendix C) and dried thoroughly.

Engine Mounts
Check the tightness of mounting capscrews. Replace
any missing nuts, bolts, and washers. Tighten
to 135 ft-lb (190 N m).

Crankshaft
Check the crankshaft and clearance. Refer to

Cooling System
Check for rust and scale formation in the system.
If rust or scale is found, the system must be
