INSPECTION
NOTE
Wipe dirt from caps and upper portion of air cleaner before removing caps and filter.
a. Visually check the air cleaner housing (5), caps (4, 6) and elbow (2) for cracks, dents and corrosion.
b. Filter Element Inspection and Replacement:
(1) Remove bolt (9), nut (7), and washer (8) holding the air cleaner strap (3) and filter cap (6).
(2) Remove the air filter element (10). Check the accumulation of dirt and debris on the element.
Replace as necessary.
CAUTION
Holes, loose end seal, dented sealing surfaces, and other forms of damage
render cleaner inoperative and require immediate element replacement.
(3) Check the air indicator (14) for intake air restriction. The indicator will change from green to red
when restricted.
c. Replace or clean the air filter (10), using compressed air.
