Fill aft peak ballast tank.

Start bilge pump. Take soundings of aft peak tank (fig. 2-27).

When filled to required level, secure pump. Secure all valves.

Fill fuel oil tank No. 1 with ballast.

Before filling fuel oil tank No. 1 with ballast, transfer any fuel oil

to the other tanks (para. 2-12). Start bilge pump and fill tank

as required. When the bow rides properly, the tank can be cut

off from valve (19). Secure pump. Secure all valves.

CAUTION
Keep fuel oil tank No. 1 valves (15 and 16) wired closed
when not in use to prevent contamination of fuel oil .
