Removals:
Make the necessary disconnections and removals and remove the above listed exhaust ventilation
assembly, i.e., motor, fan and housing as a unit, from the vessel to the shop.
Motor Disassembly:
Disassemble motor and clean all parts and inspect for damage and/or defects.
Repairs:
Test all current carrying parts for shorts, grounds and/or open circuits. Report findings to the Ship Surveyor.
Recondition brush rigging.
Replace all frayed and defective leads.
True commutator and undercut mica segments as required.
Reinsulate all intended surfaces and bake out motor to eliminate all traces of moisture.
Motor Reassembly:
Upon completion of all repairs and/or replacement of parts, reassemble motor using new gaskets, seals,
bearings and brushes.
All brush rigging shall be adjusted to ensure maximum coverage of commutator by brushes. No gaps in
center of commutator shall exist.
Seat brushes for arc free commutation.
