d. Cleaning, Inspection, and Repair.
(1) Clean all parts with solvent (FED. SPEC. PD-680) and dry thoroughly. When cleaning bearings, turn
them by hand only.
(2) Replace all gaskets, packings, and seals exposed during disassembly.
(3) Check that ball and needle bearings turn smoothly and freely when rotated by hand. Inspect balls,
needles, and races for visible damage.
(4) Check that gear teeth are smooth, show normal tooth-contact, and are free from chips, cracks, pits,
and excessive wear. If any gear teeth
