(b) Remove the end cover (4) using a heel bar under the lug provided below the filler plug boss.
Remove the discard preformed packing (5) from the end cover (4).
(c) Remove the thrust plate (3) from the final planet assembly (2).
(d) Using two pinch bars under the rim of the planet hub and against the end of the final housing
(1) pull the final planet assembly (2) off the splined end of the drum. Care must be taken not to damage the
pilot bore in the final housing (1) that carried the end cover (4).
(e) Remove the sun gear shaft (13, fig. 443) and remove the discard preformed packing (11)
from the sun gear shaft.
