CAUTION
Extreme care must be exercised in assembly to make certain that the lapped
surfaces of the carbon mating ring and steel nosepiece are free from all particles
of dust or grit as this will result in scratches on the lapped surfaces and cause fluid
leakage. These surfaces are originally lapped smooth within twelve millionths of an
inch.
a. Bearing
1. Hand pack with
