(2) A typical commercially available portable boring
bar is illustrated below. Instructions on the
correct use of the boring bar are provided by the
manufacturer.
(3) After boring the block for an oversize cylinder
liner, check the bore finish to be sure it is
smooth (120 RMS). Heat transfer from cylinder
liner to block will be adversely affected if the
block isn't smooth.
(4) Wash the block thoroughly after the boring
operation.
(5) When an oversized liner is used, stamp the size
of liner on the top deck of the block adjacent
to the liner counterbore. An oversized liner
insert must be installed whenever an oversized ~
liner is used.
