MALFUNCTION

TEST OR INSPECTION

CORRECTIVE ACTION

1. Cylinder blow-by.

Step 1.

Check cylinder head gasket for leaking.

Check the compression pressure and, if only one cylinder has low

compression, remove the cylinder head and replace the head gaskets.

Refer to paragraph 3-163.

Step 2.

Check for piston or liner damaged.

Inspect the piston and liner and replace damaged pats. Refer to paragraph

3-163.

Step 3.

Inspect for piston rings that are worn or broken.

Install new piston rings. Refer to paragraph 3-163.
