from piston ring
grooves to prevent
rings from sticking
and becoming par-
tially inactive
with a resultant
loss of compression.
This operation may
be easily performed
with a small, narrow
scraper, being care-
ful not to scratch
or otherwise damage
the groove walls.
Check each ring in
respective piston
ring groove for pos-
sible tightness.
Roll the ring around
the groove as shown
in figure. There
should be no indica-
tion of sticking or
