Inspect the vibration damper, if used, for dents, nicks or
bulges in the outer casing of damper. Replace damper if
necessary. Regardless of condition, the damper must be
replaced at time of normal overhaul.
m. Effective with engines 12VA-458, a front camshaft gear
with 66 teeth replaced the former gear which had 92
teeth to correspond with a change in the water pump
drive gear.

WARNING
Wear protective eye goggles when using compressed air.
Clean the gears with fuel oil and dry them with
compressed air.  Then, examine the gear
teeth for scoring, pitting, or wear. Replace the
gears if necessary. Also, check the other
gears in the gear train.

Apply grease to the

thrust washer against
each end of the two
camshaft rear end bearings.
Be sure the steel face of
each washer is next to
the bearing.
