All parts should be cleaned and free of oil or grease before
attempting inspection. Care should be taken to assure that
machined surfaces of parts are not nicked or scratched by
careless handling.
a. Pinion
Visually check housing

for cracks or other

Examine pinion gear to

Examine the potted face

of the cylinder for

Slight scuff marks can
be removed by lapping
