Troubleshooting.
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Engine driven pump fails to raise pressure:
Step 1.
Check for air in system.
To purge the engine driven pump of air:
a.
Operate the engine at maximum no-load engine speed.
b.
Break the hose connection (1) on the pressure side of the engine-driven pump
until a full stream of oil is discharged from the pump.
c.
Connect the hose to the pump and alternately loosen and tighten the swivel
fitting (2) on the pressure hose until the oil leaking out when the fitting is loose appears free
of air bubbles.
d.
Tighten the swivel fitting securely and observe the pressure gage. The pressure
must rise rapidly to the accumulator precharge pressure (1250 psi at 70 )(8274 kPa at
F
68.4 ). Then the pressure must increase slowly to 2900 to 3300 psi (19996 to 22754 kPa) in
C
6 to 10 minutes, depending upon the size of the particular accumulator.
