Recheck the clearance. At
this time, if the adjustment
is correct, the 0.011 inch
feeler gage will pass freely
between the valve stem and the
rocker arm, but the 0.013 inch
feeler gage will not pass
through.
4. Exhaust Valve
a. Maintain engine at normal
(Hot Engine)
operating temperature when
making the final valve
clearance adjustment.
b. With engine at normal operating
temperature 160'to 185'F
(75'to 82'C), recheck the
exhaust clearance with feeler
gage (J9708). At this time,
if valve clearance is correct,
the 0.008 inch feeler gage
will pass freely between the
valve stem and the rocker arm,
but the 0.010 inch feeler gage
will not pass through.
