2. Starting Motor
Dry cleaning solvent, P-D-680, used to clean parts, is potentially dangerous to
personnel and property. Avoid repeated or prolonged skin contact. Do not use
near open flame or excessive heat. Flash point of solvent is 100- 138 (38-

59 ).

a. Clean all parts with cleaning
solvent Fed. Spec. P-D-680
and dry thoroughly.
Wear safety goggles when cleaning passages with compressed air to avoid the
possibility of eye injury.
b. Clean all passages with
compressed air.

a. Pinion gear housing (1).

Visually check housing
for cracks or other
damage.
(2)
Examine bearing (2) for
damage or wear.
(3)
Replace if necessary.
