3. ALTERNATOR BRUSH AND FIELD ASSEMBLY TEST

NOTE

The engine should be running when performing this test.

Place ammeter on 100 ampere scale

Connect ammeter leads across test point I and 4 Disconnect field wire from test point 6 and place temporary

jumper between test point 5 and 6 If ammeter indicates maximum rated amperage, the regulator is defective If

ammeter indicates less than maximum rated amperage, the alternator, brushes, or field assembly is defective

(refer to para 4- 12 and retest)
