Reservoir Tank
Drain water from bottom of reservoir. Pressure and
temperature vary during hydraulic system operation.
This results in condensation of water from air in
the reservoir tank. Differences in specific
gravities of water and hydraulic fluid cause water
to collect in the bottom of the reservoir tank. To
prevent rust and hydraulic deterioration, water must
be removed. Follow these steps:
a. Press STOP button on stern control box to turn
off ac motor in power pack assembly. Tag control
panel "Out of Service.'"
b. Locate drain plug at bottom of reservoir tank.
c. Place a suitable container under drain plug.
d. Remove filler cap/air breather.
e. Using a suitable wrench, unscrew drain plug until
water begins to drain.
f. Drain tank until hydraulic fluid begins to drain.
g. Tighten drain plug.
h. Add hydraulic fluid to reservoir tank until fluid
level is at FULL mark.
i. Replace filler cap/air breather.
j. Remove "Out of Service - Do Not Operate" tag.
k. Turn on ac motor in hydraulic power pack
assembly.
l. Check hydraulic fluid level indicator.
m. If hydraulic fluid level is below FULL mark,
repeat steps a., d., and h. through 1.
n. Press STOP button on stern control box to turn
off ac motor in hydraulic power pack assembly.
