b. Tunnel. This manually actuated system is designed and installed to protect the Tunnel and bilge (3-
17-0-Q), Frames 17 to 25. The physical location of this system, less FM-200 distribution piping and nozzles,
Electric Horn/Strobe, and Warning Light (Amber Strobe), is installed outside of the protected space. One (1)
each 600-pound cylinder filled with 339-pounds of FM-200 agent and supporting components are installed on
the 7'0" off centerline longitudinal bulkhead, Port side, Frames 26 to 27, Engine Room (3-25-0-E), provide
protection for the Tunnel and bilge. The FM-200 actuation stations are located in two independent locations,
at bulkhead 25 outside of tunnel watertight door and on the deckhouse centerline, forward at the well deck on
bulkhead 28.
c.  Bow Thruster Room. This manually actuated system is designed and installed to protect the Bow
Thruster Room and bilge (3-5-0-E), Frames 5 to 17. The physical location of this system, less FM-200
distribution piping and nozzles, Electric Horn/Strobe, and Warning Light (Amber Strobe), is installed outside of
the protected space. One (1) each 350-pound cylinder filled with 212-pounds of FM-200 agent and
supporting components, installed on the 7'0" off centerline longitudinal bulkhead, Port side, Frames 19 to 20,
Tunnel (3-17-0-Q), provides protection for Bow Thruster Room and bilge. The FM-200 actuation stations are
located in two independent locations, at bulkhead 17 outside of the bow thruster space watertight door and on
the deckhouse centerline, forward at the well deck on bulkhead 28.
d. Paint Locker. This manually actuated system is designed and installed to protect the Paint Locker
(1-0-2-Q), Frames 0 to 13. The physical location of this system, less FM-200 distribution piping and nozzle
and FM-200 Siren, is installed outside the protected space. One (1) each 125-pound cylinder filled with 79-
pounds of FM-200 agent and supporting components, installed on the 7'0" off centerline longitudinal
bulkhead, Port side, between Frames 6 and 7, Bow Thruster Room (3-5-0-E), provides protection for the Paint
Locker. The FM-200 actuation station is located outside of the paint locker watertight door on bulkhead 13.
e. A/C and Emergency Generator Room. This manually activated system is designed and installed to
protect the A/C and Emergency Generator Room (1-43-0-E), Frames 42 1 2 to 52. The physical location of
this system, less FM-200 distribution piping and nozzles, Electric Horn/Strobe, and Warning Light (Amber
Strobe), is installed outside of the protected space. One (1) each 125-pound cylinder filled with 71-pounds of
FM-200 agent and supporting components, installed in the Stowage Locker (1-43-1-Q), Frames 43 to 44,
provides protection for the A/C and Emergency Generator Room. The FM-200 actuation station is located in
the main passageway outside of the A/C and emergency generator room entrance door at bulkhead 46.
6-24.2. GENERAL - WATER WASHDOWN SYSTEM (WWS). The FM-200 WWS built of all stainless
components are three (3) separate systems installed in the Engine Room, Tunnel and Bow Thruster Room.
The WWS is a hydrogen fluoride (HF) gas mitigation, water washdown system which provides general
overhead coverage to the protected spaces. The WWS is a simple overhead sprinkler grid which is piped
directly to the existing firemain. It receives seawater from the Bow Thruster Emergency Fire Pump (Engine
Room WWS) and two (2) Engine Room Fire Pumps (Bow Thruster Room and Tunnel WWS). The Bow
Thruster Emergency Fire Pump is powered by the Bow Thruster Diesel engine and the two (2) Engine Room
Fire Pumps are powered electrically from the Ships Service Switchboard 240V Distribution Panel. The WWS
actuation stations are located immediately outside each protected space next to the FM-200 actuation station.
The WWS, upon activation, serves to:
- Quickly reduce the temperature within the protected space.
- Minimize production of HF Gas which is produced by FM-200 agent decomposition,
resulting from contact with hot surfaces and flames at temperatures above 1300F.
- Aid in scrubbing any HF Gas generated.
- Expedite ventilation of the protected space.
6-24.3. EXTERNAL WARNING BELLS. Each FM-200 system is installed with an external warning bell to
notify personnel in the event that the FM-200 System is deployed. These bells are all located above the
watertight pull stations except for the AC and Emergency Generator Room which is located above its
watertight door.
