The valve is OPENED when the knob is aligned with the air passage.

OPEN the primer line shutoff valve between the primer jet and the pump suction.
4.
Prime the exhaust butterfly valve.
5.
Press down on the compression release lever (figure 4, item 1), ensuring that it remains pressed downward.
