WARNING
Do not smoke when observing battery
electrolyte level. Batteries give off
fumes that can explode. Electrolyte is
an acid and can cause personal Injury
if it contacts skin or eyes. Wear
approved goggles, gloves, and apron.
NOTE
Top cover of battery box must be
removed to check batteries.

as required.
c. Clean battery as required using a paste
of baking soda and clear water. Rinse
with clear water when finished.
d. Check electrolyte level and check
specific gravity of electrolyte with
a hydrometer. Electolyte level should
be at the bottom of the split rings and
specific gravity should be 1.265.
