Disconnect negative lead from battery prior to performing maintenance on the starting motor. Severe
shock could result.

Battery
Disconnect battery leads
Tag for proper
Leads
(1 and 2).
2.
Solenoid
Disconnect solenoid switch
Tag for proper
Switch
leads (3 and 4) from solenoid
reconnection.
Leads
(5).
3.
Support
a.
Remove four screws (6),
Bracket
and lockwashers (7) from
support bracket (8).
b.
Remove support bracket
(8) with solenoid switch
(5) attached.
4.
Fuel
a.
Turn fuel filter valve
Filter
lever (9) to OFF to shut
off forward filter.
b.
Open petcock (10) at
Drain fuel into
bottom of filter and
a suitable
drain filter.
container and
dispose of
properly.
c.
Remove shell and element
(11) from filter head.
