PUMP, HYDRAULIC STARTER
The engine-driven charging pump is a single piston, positive displacement type. The ball check valves, and the
unloading valve are automatically controlled by the accumulator pressure. The pump shaft is supported on ball bearings;
a seal, pressed into the pump bearing retainer, prevents leakage. The pump is attached to the flywheel housing, and is
driven by a drive plate bolted to the balance shaft gear.
