3. Camshaft

NOTE
The camshaft may be removed and replaced without
removing the flywheel housing and disconnecting the
transmission if there is space enough to slide the
shaft out through the front of the engine.
a. Remove the front balance

weight cover and place a wood
block between the balance

b. Detach the gear nut retainer
(3) after removing the screws
(1), and lockwashers (2).

Loosen and remove the nut
(4), and lockwashers (5) at
each end of the camshaft.
d. Refer to the procedure out-
lined in paragraph 6-23.2 and
remove the balance weights.
