Because gasket will shrink with
age, it should be cut several
inches over size (approximately 1
inch extra for every 3 feet of
channel).
(b) Install gasket in channel and let set for
approximately 24 hours to allow for
shrinkage.
(c) Remove gasket and trim excess material.
NOTE
Allow 1 inch extra for compressing
gasket in channel.
NOTE
A 45 joint should be used at
corners in closures with square
corners. Elsewhere, square butt
joints are preferable. Joints
should not be located in radius
portions of closures. The number
of gasket joints should be kept to
a minimum (no more than 4). Very
short strips (less than 2 feet)
should not be used.
