Oil filters-Continued
(2) Remove filter body bolts (4).
(3) Remove the filter cartridge (5) by turning counterclockwise.
WARNING
Spilled  liquids  create  very  hazardous  decks  and
passageways.  Slippery deck plates and walkways around
operating machinery increase risk of injury from falls and
moving machinery. Clean up spills right away.
(4) Remove elements and clean with solvent (Item 4, Appendix
C). Inspect condition and, if necessary, replace.
(5) Dump out oil remaining in the canister. Clean canister with
with solvent and inspect for damage to threads, etc.
(6) Place the cleaned element in the canister and fill with clean
oil.
(7) Replace the canister onto the filter head by turning clockwis
e
by hand until tight, then back off 1/4 to 1/3 turn. If the
canister is not backed off as above, it will be very difficult to
remove the next time removal is required.
