MAIN ENGINES AND TRANSMISSION, OVERHAUL AND RECONDITIONING (INDEFINITE) (CONTINUED)
Disassembly and Cleaning:
Completely disassemble each engine, transmission, assembly, sub-assembly and accessory. Clean all
parts free of all oil, grease, paint, carbon, salt deposits, scale and/or any other foreign matter.
Inspection:
Inspect and test each part for wear or defects. Take and record all measurements of wearing areas as
specified by the engine manufacturer.
The engine block shall be honed prior to taking bore measurements.
Reports:
Within the first fifteen (15) days after the arrival of the vessel at the Contractor's plant, submit a triplicate
type-written inspection report to the Ship Surveyor. This report shall contain the results of all tests, measure-
ments taken and all recommendations for parts renewal. This report shall also contain the part number, price
and availability for each part recommended for renewal.
Renew such additional parts as may be authorized by the Ship Surveyor.
Repairs:
Clean and polish all shafting and cams. Recondition all threads and keyways. Remove all burrs from
mating surfaces.
Contractor Furnished Materials:
During reassembly, the Contractor shall furnish and install the following new materials throughout each
engine, transmission, attached assembly, sub-assembly and accessory as is applicable to each:

Cylinder Kits
2.
3.
Connecting Rod Bearings
4.
Piston Pin Connecting Rod Bearings
5.
Camshaft Bearings, to include locking rings
6.
Balance Shaft Bearings
