GENERAL INFORMATION
1-1. INTRODUCTION. This manual describes the operation and maintenance of the Inflatable Assault
Boat (IAB) Model F530. The IAB shown in Figure 1-1 is an inflatable boat used by the United States Army
for a variety of missions. This service manual provides instructions for the effective use and maintenance
of the IAB.
a. Applicability. This service manual is applicable to inflatable boats produced by the Zodiac
Group and identified as Model F530.
b. Warranty Data. The IAB is warranted by Zodiac of North America, Inc. The date the craft
was manufactured is contained in the hull identification number as described in Appendix H.
1-2. EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION. The IAB is a general-purpose inflatable craft that is easily stored
and transported when deflated and rolled. It can be manually paddled or powered by a transom-mounted
outboard motor. The IAB can carry up to 15 people or a maximum payload (personnel, cargo and fuel) of
3,770 pounds.
