NOTE:
Both sides of the paddles may be painted at the same time if they are hung on
wire loops, and suspended from a rope.
( 10 ) Mix, thin, and apply the paint in accordance with the manufacturer s
instructions on the container. Use a clean paintbrush to apply the paint.
( 11 ) Apply a single coat of paint to the transom, thrustboard, and paddles. If heavily
damaged areas were sanded to bare wood, all items will require a second coat
of paint after the first coat has dried. A new craft with only factory paint will also
require two coats. Refer to paint manufacturer s instructions for the application
of additional coats.
NOTE:
Do not fold and stow the craft until paint has dried for 24-hours.
( 12 ) Allow the paint to dry to the tack stage and then carefully remove all masking
tape.
( 13 ) When the paint is dry to the touch, the transom engine plate may be
reinstalled, if desired.
( 14 ) Reinstall the outboard engine, if desired.
( 15 ) Stow the paddles in their stowage sheaths.
5-16. CO2 ONE-WAY VALVE DIFFUSER INSPECTION
Tools and Materials Required:
a. Inspection Frequency. The CO2 One-Way Valve Diffuser should be inspected every six
months or after each use.
b. Maintenance Procedures.
( 1 ) Unscrew the diffuser nylon cap, clean threads with solvent.
( 2 ) Apply a very small amount of OMC Triplegaurd Grease to the threads only and
set aside.
( 3 ) Remove the "O-Ring" from its lodging. Inspect for cracks, swelling as in fig.5-7
( 4 ) Replace when necessary, clean by rubbing between thumb & index finger. (Do
not use grease).
