7-24. REPAIRING DAMAGED HULL BOTTOM. This corrective maintenance procedure is performed
by direct support personnel. The hull bottom requires repair when the water leak test (chapter 6, 6-4)
indicates punctures in the fabric or when the fabric is worn to the extent that threads are visible. The hull
bottom is hypalon neoprene fabric. Repairs are made using hypalon neoprene fabric, toluene solvent and
neoprene glue as described in Appendix F. Repairs are normally made by applying patches to the bottom
of the craft as described in paragraph 7-20. However, patches may be applied to the bottom fabric inside
the craft if the fabric shows signs of wear from flooring system movement, or accumulated sand and grit.
Water leaks not caused by obvious punctures in the hull bottom fabric should be repaired as described in
paragraph 7-25. Rubbing strakes on the craft s bottom are repaired as described in paragraph 7-26.
