( 7 ) Delrin Valve Insert. A spare valve insert, including the gasket and diaphragm,
is provided to repair an intercommunicating or keel valve.
( 8 ) Delrin Valve Cap. A spare valve cap with a gasket is provided for use with the
valve insert.
( 9 ) Leak stoppers (not shown). Three types of leak stoppers are provided, one is a
clam shell style and the other two are a tapered cone device ( one large and
one small).
g. Stowage Sheaths for Paddles (Figure 3-9). The stowage sheaths are located port and
starboard on the buoyancy tube inboard surfaces. Two sheaths are installed on the interiors of both main
buoyancy tubes for securing the blade and handle ends of the nine paddles provided with each F530 IAB.
The paddles may be used as primary source of propulsion or as an alternate source in the event of
outboard engine failure. The paddles are also used when a quiet insertion prevents the use of outboard
motors of all or part of a mission.
