Do not attempt to tow the craft by attaching a line to the bow handle break
loose, a tensioned towing line has sufficient stored energy to cause
serious injury or death. Towing points have been provided port
and starboard 3/4 bow.
CAUTION
Do not use bow handle for hoisting the craft. Lifting points have been
provided for this purpose on the thrustboard.
h. Carrying Handles. There are twelve carrying handles on the IAB and are made of polyester
reinforced webbing fabric material that is double-webbed and sewn together for added strength. The handles
are strategically distributed, six on port and six on starboard sides, two of which are in the transom area to
facilitate carrying the boat with heavy engines attached.
i. Chafe Protection (Figure 3-10). The F530 IAB is equipped with multi-point chafe protection.
Rubbing strakes made of extruded neoprene are bonded to the craft at key wear points. Three rubbing strakes
are fitted to the underhull. Ripple finish rubbing strakes are fitted to the sides and bow section. The rubbing
strakes protect the craft from abrasion and puncture during beaching, docking, and handling operations. The
rubbing strakes are sacrificial and are replaced when worn.
