e. Bow Stowage Pouch (Figure 3-6). One stowage pouch is provided in the bow area to stow
the repair kit, air pumps and hoses. It is located on the inboard surface of the buoyancy tube, port side,
near the bow of the craft.
f. Foot Pump, Hose, and Repair Kit (figures 3-7 and 3-8). The foot pump, hose, and repair kit
are stowed in a stowage pouch. Two bellows-type foot pumps and two hoses are provided for inflation
(figure 3-7) The foot pumps may also be used for deflation (this removes all air and allows the craft to be
rolled into a compact size for storage). A repair kit contains material necessary to repair air leaks. The
repair kit contains the following items (numbers in text correspond to numbers in figure 3-8):
( 1 ) Pressure Gauge. One Go/NoGo air pressure gauge is provided to check
pressure in the air chambers.
( 2 ) Glue. Two 125 cc tubes of neoprene single component field repair glue are
provided to secure patches to the air chambers or bottom fabric.
( 3 ) Pumice Stone. One pumice stone is provided to roughen the fabric, which
prepares it for gluing on a patch.
( 4 ) Patches. Six 4-1/2 inch diameter neoprene coated fabric patches are provided
to repair leaks in the air chambers or punctures in the bottom fabric.
( 5 ) Brush. One brush is provided to spread the glue when applying a patch.
