CHAPTER 3
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
3-1.
GENERAL. For reliable and safe operation, personnel operating and maintaining the F530 IAB
must be familiar with the F530 IAB components and understand their functions. This chapter provides a
technical description of each component and describes its function. The chapter also provides a
functional description of several related F530 IAB items that are commonly used but must be ordered
separately.
3-2.  MAJOR COMPONENTS. This section provides a functional description of the major components
of the standard IAB. Major F530 IAB components are listed below. Refer to figure 3-1 for their location in
the craft. Items that are part of these major components are discussed as part of the major component.

3-3.  MAIN BUOYANCY TUBES. The main buoyancy tubes are constructed in a U-shape as viewed
from above the craft, and as shown in figure 3-2. The material is a black, heavy-duty polyamide fabric.
The fabric is protected by a coating that consists of neoprene on the interior surface and
hypalon/neoprene compound on the exterior surface. This system provides air tight
