( 2 ) If the towing D-rings on either the towed or towing F530 IAB are not serviceable, an
alternate towing arrangement must be used. A 120-foot length of 1/2 inch diameter
nylon line is required. Connect the line as follows:
(a) Using a bowline knot, tie a loop around the cone-shaped aft-ends of the main
(b) Route the free end of the line forward through the aft D-ring, then through the
carrying handles, routing the line over one handle and under the next handle.
(c) Route the line through the bow D-rings, leaving as much slack as possible at the
bow.
(d) Continue routing the line aft on the opposite side of the craft through the carrying
handles.
(e) At the cone-shaped end of the buoyancy tube, tie a loop using a bowline knot.
(f) Move to the bow, locate the center of the line, and tie an overhand knot.
d. Lifting. The craft is lifted using the lifting sling provided with each F530 IAB. The lifting sling is
attached to the four lifting points as shown in figure 4-10. The lifting sling attachment points are not intended to
lift a fully loaded craft or a craft full of water. Lifitng will be done with the engine, fuel and equipment only. No
personnel are permitted in the boat when lifting. Certified lifting slings are available on request. The standard
lifting sling is not a certified lifting sling.
CAUTION
Do not use the bow handle for lifting the craft. Lifting points have been provided
for this purpose.
