( 3 ) Automotive paint rubbing compound is used to regrind the valve. Use Dupont
No. 7 paste rubbing compound or equivalent. Apply a light coating of the
rubbing compound to the outer surface of the male portion of the valve.
( 4 ) Insert the male portion of the valve into the female portion.
( 5 ) Manually turn the flywheel 10 turns clockwise and then 10 turns
counterclockwise while pressing lightly against the flywheel to force it into the
valve.
( 6 ) Remove the male portion of the valve and redistribute the rubbing compound
by spreading it with your fingers evenly over the surface.
( 7 ) Repeat step ( 5 ).
( 8 ) Repeat step ( 6 ), but reapply a light coating of rubbing compound if necessary.
( 9 ) Repeat steps ( 5 ) through ( 8 ) an additional 5 times and then remove the male
portion of the valve.
( 10 ) Using a dry cloth, wipe clean both
the male and female portion of the valves
and inspect the surfaces. Grinding
is not complete until the grooves and pits
are removed. Repeat steps ( 5 )
through ( 10 ) as necessary to obtain a
smooth, shiny, scratch free surface
on both the male and female portion of the
valves.
