( 4 ) Remove the keel valve base through the incision.
( 5 ) Install a new keel valve base through the incision. Use a new large neoprene valve
base gasket. Verify that the neoprene gasket is pressed firmly down on the valve
base.
( 6 ) Install the grooved metal valve base gasket and valve base nut. Tighten the valve
base nut firmly but not excessively using the collar nut spanner.
( 7 ) Following the procedures in Appendix F, apply an inner patch to the incision. Use
strongan fabric and polyurethane glue.
( 8 ) Apply an outer patch over the incision using strongan fabric and polyurethane glue
and allow the glue to cute for a minimum of 12 hours.
( 9 ) Install the metal valve insert and inflate the keel to 220 mbar (3.2 psi). Install the
metal valve cap.
( 10 ) Using the collar nut spanner, tighten the keel valve base nut firmly, but not
excessively. Do not tighten to the extent that the valve base turns inside the keel.
no leaks appear, the repair is complete. If leaks appear around the valve, proceed
to the next step.
( 12 ) Remove the metal valve insert to deflate the keel.
( 13 ) Using a collar nut spanner, loosen and remove the valve base nut. Exercise care to
avoid dropping the valve base into the keel.
( 14 ) Install an additional large neoprene valve base gasket between the grooved valve
base metal compression washer and the keel fabric.
( 15 ) Install the base nut. Tighten the base nut firmly but not excessively. Install the
metal valve insert and inflate the keel to 220 mbar (3.2 psi).
( 16 ) Using a collar nut spanner, tighten the valve base nut firmly but not to the extent
that the valve base rotates inside the keel.
