This procedure is not performed if the rigid flooring system is installed.
The two transom straps must be checked for tightness daily by unit personnel during periods of craft
operation. Always verify that keel and buoyancy tube air pressure is correct (paragraph 5-7) before
checking transom strap tension. Under-inflation of the craft results in loss of tension in the transom straps.
The correct tension for the transom straps is 1 to 1-1/2 inches of additional tightening after the slack is
removed. To check tension of the transom straps, stand behind the transom and face forward, place your
thumb in the center of the strap, and with your knees against the transom, pull the loose end of the strap
toward your body until your thumb has moved 1 to 1-1/2 inches.

The craft must be cleaned by unit personnel after each use. Sand and dirt that collect under the flooring
wear away the fabric coatings on the inflatable keel and bottom. Sand and dirt in the lower buoyancy tube
skirt also cause wear of the fabric.
