CAUTION
Do not roll up a wet boat. Mildew will form and wooden parts will
deteriorate.
( 8 ) Allow the craft to drain before removing it from its vertical position.
b. Reinstall Engine. Reinstall the outboard engine (refer to chapter 4, paragraph 4-3c) and
fuel tanks, if previously installed.
5-12. MONTHLY CLEANING OF CRAFT WITH FLOORING REMOVED.
Materials Required ........ Water Hose, Bucket Detergent,
Mild Liquid Soap, Scrub Brush
Tools Required .............. None (for rigid floor), screw-driver, flat-blade (for thrust-board),
10 mm deep socket (for transom batten)

The craft must be cleaned thoroughly by unit personnel each month during periods of operation. This
cleaning is similar to the washing after each use (paragraph 5-11) except that the flooring must be
removed to gain access to the dirt and sand that accumulate around the inflatable keel.
NOTE:
The flooring must be removed for the following monthly cleaning procedures.
Wash Craft. Wash craft as follows:
a.
( 1 ) Remove outboard engine and fuel tanks, if installed.
( 2 ) Remove flooring. Refer to chapter 2, paragraph 2-8b for rollup
flooring.
( 3 ) Deflate the keel by removing the metal valve insert; then replace the
metal valve cap to prevent water from entering the inflatable keel.
( 4 ) Lean craft against a structure so that it is resting on the cone ends of the main
buoyancy tubes (see figure 5-1).
